Tickets are now on sale for the TEDx Manhattan Beach event, which is returning after being on hiatus during 2020. The popular inspirational event, to be held on Saturday, November 6, has sold out all previous years.

This year's event features fourteen main speakers - scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, artists, moms, dads, and students - who aim to portray the future, re-imagined.

It will be held at Mira Costa High School on November 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tickets range from $45 (student and senior price; includes breakfast, lunch, and snack), to $95 for general entry (includes breakfast, lunch, and snack), to $165 for VIP access including Saturday night dinner with the speakers at Lido di Manhattan. A ticket for the dinner alone is $75.

Featured speakers include:

Paul Silva, Master of Ceremonies

Hannah Gedion, a Mira Costa senior who started the MBUSD chapter of Diversity Our Narrative

Dennis Hong, a professor and founding director of RoMeLa (Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory) of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UCLA, who has been called the "Leonardo DaVinci of robots."

Shannon Ryan, a Certified Financial Planner and wealth advisor, blogger, speaker, and author of two children’s books.

Sirisha Bandla, the vice president of government affairs for Virgin Galactic and a "space tourism activist."

Ruben Rojas, a muralist and creator of the "Live Through Love" brand.

Huda Al-Marashi, author of First Comes Marriage: My Not-So-Typical American Love Story, and a "finder of cultural common ground."

Vinnie Malcom, a longtime marketing and business development executive who is a "mentor advocate."

Cole Sternberg, a conceptual artist whose work includes painting, photographs, and poetry.

Mary Lee, a mathematician at the RAND Corporation and inaugural Fellow for the RAND Center for Global Risk and Security whose work explores connecting our brain and body to the Internet.

Russ Prentice, a nuclear engineer and CEO of Halcyon Energy Systems who is a "small footprint activist."

Marla Zaslansky, an education reform advocate who aims to shift the education system from an “age and stage” siloed one into a lifelong ecosystem.

Amy Alkon, a mediator who specializes in relationship mediation, and also gives behavioral science-based training sessions for the Dispute Resolution Program in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office.

Peter Samuelson, the developer of Everyone Deserves A Roof (EDAR) — an affordable, portable, functioning house that consists of a tent on wheels with a mattressed cot and storage to help combat homelessness.

Maryam Bakhtiyari, an orthodontist who works to help patients who are suffering stress to the body caused by TMJ and sleep apnea.

The TEDx program will also include a wide range of exhibits and activities such as graffiti art, MakerSpace projects, and "face yoga."

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

This year's TEDx Manhattan Beach sponsors include the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation, Chevron, the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, ICAN Tax Prep & Accounting, the Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach, and Lemonlight. DigMB is the media sponsor.
