Manhattan Beach Residents Asked to Take BCHD Health Survey

Aug 09, 2021 09:01AM ● By Mb News Staff
The Beach Cities Health District is asking Manhattan Beach and other beach cities residents to take a health survey to assess well-being in the community.

The health survey is available here. It takes about 20 minutes to complete, and responses must be completed by Monday, August 30.

Those who complete the survey have the option to enter an opportunity drawing for a chance to win two tickets to the BeachLife Festival or gift cards to Blue Zones Project Approved restaurants. Winners will be selected after the survey closes and notified by Friday, September 3.

Every three years, BCHD produces a Community Health Report. This Community Health Report provides city-specific (Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach) health information.

To create the report, BCHD uses information from the U.S. Census, the Gallup National Well-Being Index, the California Healthy Kids Survey, the California Health Interview Survey, the Panorama Education Survey, the Southern California Association of Governments Reports, and the Los Angeles County Health Survey.

This year, BCHD has developed a new community and individual-level questionnaire to capture additional zip code-specific information along with the unique perspective of healthcare providers and community stakeholders. This information will be used to compile the 2022-2025 Community Health Report and guide the selection of BCHD's health priorities, which then helps determine the health programs and services most needed by the community.

“Obtaining direct community feedback and engaging with our residents is key to ensuring our programs best serve our community,” said Beach Cities Health District CEO Tom Bakaly in a statement. “We appreciate residents taking the time to complete our Community Health Survey and what they’ll receive in return is health services that meet their needs.”

BCHD will have iPads available at its front desks in the following locations for those who cannot complete the survey on their own computer or device:
  • BCHD Admin Office: 1200 Del Amo St., Redondo Beach
  • BCHD Community Services: 514 N. Prospect Ave., Suite 102, Redondo Beach
  • Center for Health & Fitness: 514 N. Prospect Ave., Second floor, Redondo Beach
  • AdventurePlex: 1701 Marine Ave., Manhattan Beach

BCHD was extremely active in the community during the pandemic, offering more than 150,000 COVID tests and delivering nearly 20,000 COVID vaccines to educators, students, and community members.
