Manhattan Beach firefighters have reported to help with the Bond Fire in Orange County, according to Interim Chief Wolfgang Knabe of the Manhattan Beach Fire Department.
"We sent an engine with four members," Knabe told DigMB. "We don’t know how long they will be
there at this point. Usually they keep them until structures are no
longer threatened or they have enough containment of the fire. The wind
forecast also plays into the decision," he added.
Although the Santa Ana winds that fueled the fire have begun to
die down, officials are concerned about the extremely low humidity and
dry conditions. Another round of dry Santa Ana winds are forecast for
next week.
As of Friday night, the Orange County Fire Authority reported that the Bond Fire was at 7,375 acres with 30% containment.
There are 1,560 personnel working on the incident, representing more than 30 agencies.
The Manhattan Beach firefighters were deployed along with members of the Redondo Beach, El Segundo, and Torrance fire departments.
