Halloween Golf Cart Parade to Roll Through Manhattan Beach

Oct 28, 2020 11:24PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
A parade of decorated Halloween golf carts will roll through Manhattan Beach on October 31, providing some socially distanced family fun and entertainment.

The golf cart parade - open to all comers - will start at Pacific Elementary School in the 17th Street parking lot at 2:00 p.m. It will then roll up and down the Greenbelt, through Downtown Manhattan Beach, and finally end up at 15th and Valley. (See the parade route flyer below, in PDF form.)

If you have a golf cart, now's the time to start decorating it for the parade. Alternatively, if you just want some good socially distanced family fun on Halloween, you can plan to be a spectator.

The parade is being organized by Manhattan Beach resident Shawn Giaconi, who adds that she "recruited/forced" her four kids to help her.

"My inspiration was to create something for all of us that is fun and we look forward to even though we're extremely restricted right now," Giaconi told DigMB.

Giaconi continued: "I surprised myself last Christmas with a golf cart and it's been a wonderful gift for our family.  I've wanted to create events for other local families so we started a group called the Manhattan Beach Golf Cart Crew.  The Halloween Golf Cart Parade will be the first event, and we hope to organize a parade for future major holidays as well as other experiences."

She estimates that between 25 and 40 golf carts may participate, although there may be more as the word spreads around town.
