Kinecta Federal Credit Union will be holding a Red Cross blood drive on September 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The blood drive will be held in Kinecta's main office parking lot at 1440 Rosecrans Ave. in Manhattan Beach.

Currently, all donated blood will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.

Why donate blood?

Blood donations are essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.

According to the Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood, whether it's whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma. In fact, one donation can potentially save three lives. And blood and platelets cannot be manufactured; they can only come from volunteer donors. 

The Red Cross provides about 40% of the country's blood and blood components, all from generous volunteer donors. But supply can’t always meet demand because only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. Each new donor helps the Red Cross meet patient needs.
