Aug 14, 2020 03:27PM ● By Jeanne FratelloThe Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce has a new leader who is breaking ground from her first day on the job.
Latrice McGlothin, who is the community engagement director for Kinecta Federal Credit Union, was sworn in on Tuesday as the new chairman of the board of directors of the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce.
She is the first woman of color to
hold the position for the chamber.
“It’s
truly an honor to serve in this role,” McGlothin told DigMB. “As chair of the Chamber of Commerce, I most look forward to developing and
strengthening current business relationships, driving economic success
in Manhattan Beach and developing
meaning relationships in an effort to make Manhattan Beach a
better place to live, play and work."
“My hope is to inspire women
and men of color to step into leadership roles and be the change they
want to see in the world," she added.
McGlothin has served on the MBCC's board of directors since
2016 and as the chair-elect (under the leadership of previous chairman Brad Sperber of Manhattan Beach Toyota) since 2018.
She is familiar to many in the greater Manhattan Beach community through her roles in the Kinecta scholarship program and through its community efforts such as the VetFest barbecue celebration and Kinecta's backpack and clothing drives.
She has also served as an advisor for the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce's Young Entrepreneurs Academy.
