It's just about time to head back to school, and this year you can do it at Shade Hotel.

Shade is offering a special back-to-school special that gives parents and kids a quiet space to work on school work, and then lets them finish the day with dinner and some pool time. 

The back-to-school packages start at $279 per night and include a bag of school supplies, a $50 Shade family dinner, and complimentary parking for one vehicle. You can also extend your stay and get the second night at 50 percent off.

"We thought a change of scenery for parents and kids would be needed," said Jenna Ritter, director of marketing for the Zislis Group, owner of Shade Hotel. 

According to Ritter, the school supplies will include a binder booklet, note pad, pens, pencil and a bag to hold the supplies.

She noted that families can also take advantage of Shade's downtown location to bring the kids on "field trips" such as a visit to the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium.

Checkout is at 11:00 a.m., although families are welcome to use the pool for the remainder of the day when they check out, Ritter said.
