Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair Opens Grant Applications

Jul 28, 2020 10:40AM ● By Jeanne Fratello

The Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair has opened up grant applications for local South Bay non-profits.

When it announced last month that this year's fair would be canceled, the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair Association's Board of Directors approved $10,000 in grants for local nonprofits "in the spirit of giving back."

"These grants will be distributed to our community clubs, boosters and non-profits," said Joe Marcy, president of the Hometown Fair, when the grants were announced. "For those that rely on our fair to raise money, we want to help."

The application for those grants is now available online at www.mbfair.org/grants/. To be considered for a grant, the organization must have financial need, must be a non-profit in the South Bay, and must be able to show proof of non-profit status.

The grant application deadline is September 8.

Grant recipients will be announced on fair weekend, October 4-5, 2020. If awarded, recipients will receive a minimum of $500.

Marcy also noted that the fair was planning to maintain a "strong community presence" this year.

"Please check back and follow us on social media as we prepare to launch our online auction/raffle and merchandise store. We’ll also spotlight local artists and businesses," he said.

The Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
