Kinecta Seeks Donations for Backpacks and School Supplies
Jul 27, 2020 08:42PM ● By Jeanne FratelloAs the 2020/21 school year draws nearer, Kinecta Federal Credit Union is running its 11th annual Backpack Drive to provide backpacks and school supplies
to help local under-served youth.
The
organization is accepting
monetary donations and school supplies until July 31st.
Kinecta’s goal is to collect 600 backpacks and school supplies to
donate to community partners including the Al
Wooten Jr. Youth Center, Environmental Charter, Parents of Watts,
Richstone Family Center, GRYD Foundation, Thomas House Family Shelter,
Los Angeles Police Department Southeast Division, Watts/Century Latino
Organization, and Motorcycle Riders for Homeless
Parolees.
Given that most schools are starting the school year with distance learning, this year's drive has been slightly modified, according to Anasia Obioha, public relations manager for Kinecta.
"What's new this year is we’ve listed on Amazon the school supply
items requested from the organizations that we donate to," said Obioha. "Additionally, we are still collecting
actual backpacks so the students are geared up and ready when school
does reopen. Our partners still have a demand for them."
Monetary donations can be made
here. School supplies can also be purchased on
Kinecta’s Amazon wish list.
