It may come as a surprise, but Manhattan Beach real estate has just reached its highest-ever median home price.

As of March 31, the Manhattan Beach median price was at $2.410 million, the highest point ever according to local real estate blog Manhattan Beach Confidential.

The new median actually represents a bit of a bounceback after the median ended 2019 lower, the first time that the year-end median had dropped in 9 years. (See "Median Price Down 2% in 2019.")

As of the end of December, the median was at $2.351 million.

Keep in mind that every median price point on the chart is calculated based on a rolling 12 months' worth of sales.

"We'll call this a bright spot, even while no one knows exactly what's next for the real estate market," said Dave Fratello, broker at Edge Real Estate Agency and author of Manhattan Beach Confidential. "By the end of April, the picture could look different, especially if we have far fewer home sales that go into this calculation."

'Emoji House' Sells

Following up on a notorious real estate story from last summer, the hot-pink "Emoji House" in El Porto has sold, according to MB Confidential.

The Emoji house closed for $1.550 million. It had taken several price cuts over 3+ months before making a deal.

It's unclear whether the new owner will repaint the hot pink house. Notably, Google still calls the house a "tourist attraction."
