The Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach and Kinecta Federal Credit Union
on Monday presented a $15,000 check to Team Rubicon
- the proceeds from a successful "VetFest Beer-B-Que" Veterans' Day event in November.
Team Rubicon is an international disaster response nonprofit that unites
the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders
to rapidly provide relief to communities in need. Founded in 2010 with
the goal of quickly responding to large-scale disasters, Team
Rubicon has deployed thousands of volunteers across the United States
and world to provide relief to communities in need.
In thanking the Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach, Team Rubicon
co-founder Jake Wood said, "When I think about the great organizations
of this country - such as the Rotary Club - our communities would not be
the same without them."
As Team Rubicon
celebrates its 10th anniversary, the organization is even more excited
about the next 90 years, said Wood, and looks to groups like Rotary to
seek that inspiration.
The popular Veterans' Day VetFest event, which marked its second year in November 2019, honored veterans, active duty serviceman, and first responders. Held outside the Kinecta offices on Rosecrans Ave., it featured craft beer tasting, a barbecue feast, and music from the popular "yacht rock" band
Yachty by Nature.
This is the second year that the Rotary Club and Kinecta have supported Team Rubicon with proceeds from VetFest.
