Send Letters to Santa at Whale of a Wash

Nov 14, 2019 08:50PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Dear Santa: Where in Manhattan Beach can we write a letter directly to you?
Dear DigMB: Why, at Whale of a Wash, of course!

The popular laundromat Whale of a Wash has begun accepting letters to Santa, from now through Christmas Eve. They have created a special post box and writing station inside their Manhattan Ave. laundromat to help kids get their messages directly to the big guy.

Whale of a Wash will provide paper and markers for kids to write their letters at the "kids' corner" inside the laundromat. Participants who enclose their letters in an envelope and write their address will get a special letter back from Santa or Bernard (his number one elf).

"This is the first year that we have done this event, and we hope that we can make this a yearly tradition within the Manhattan Beach community," said Alexis Oakley of Whale of a Wash.

Oakley added that during the Holiday Open House on Nov. 20, kids will be given the opportunity to write their letters, make special holiday crafts, and even take a photo with a cut-out of Snoopy.

Also new for this year: From December 1 through December 15, the laundromat will have a box in its office for toy donations to go to Mattel Children's Hospital. Those who donate will receive 10% off dry cleaning or fluff & fold orders.

Whale of a Wash has been a fixture in Manhattan Beach for more than 35 years. Its current owners have run the business for the past three years.
