MBUSD International Day Draws Crowds

Oct 14, 2019 09:32AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
It was an afternoon filled with colorful costumes, food, and music on Saturday at the 4th Annual International Day, an event sponsored by the Manhattan Beach Unified School District.

Saturday's event, which has quickly become a beloved local tradition, was the largest to date. Approximately 600 people attended, said co-organizer Akiko Ogihara.

The event invites families in the Manhattan Beach School District to showcase the food, art, music, and other traditions of their native countries or cultures. Visitors are encouraged to pick up a "passport" and get it "stamped" from as many countries as possible as they sample foods and learn about each country's traditions.

This year, families set up booths representing nearly 30 different countries and regions of the United States
