Do your kids love to perform? Now's your chance to sign them up for the Manhattan Beach Community Church's children's theater and
choir.
The choir
performs once a month in church on Sundays, and the theater group gives two performances per year. Practices are on Wednesdays with
Pre-K-3rd grade meeting from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 4th-8th grade meeting from
4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Enrollment is $35 per semester per child.
The first
practice of the fall/winter semester kicks off on September 11.
The program, which has been called "the best kept secret in the South Bay," is run by
Pat Edwards, a former MBUSD music teacher who is often recognized
around town by the students she taught at Meadows and Pennekamp elementary schools. She takes an interdisciplinary approach
to teaching music to children. Kids will play instruments, dance, and
play musical games, all while building a strong musical foundation.
The
children's theater puts on two performances a year. This year, the Nutcracker is planned for the
winter and a there will be another play in the spring. Previous
performances include Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Wizard
of Oz, and Tom Sawyer.
