Find Waldo in Downtown Manhattan Beach in July

Jul 05, 2019 11:42AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Waldo is back! That sneaky character is hiding all around Downtown Manhattan Beach in the month of July. Find as many Waldos as you can, and you can have a chance to win some great prizes.

To participate, pick up a "passport" at pages: a bookstore or any other participating merchant downtown, and start your search for Waldo.

This year, Waldo is hiding in 25 spots around Manhattan Beach, including Manhattan Beach City Hall, the Manhattan Beach Farmers Market, homie, MB Post, Rockefeller, Right Tribe, and many others.

Once you've gotten 10 stamps, come into {pages} for your "I Found Waldo" button and a "Waldo Dollar" good for one dollar off of a Waldo book (limited to the first 125 Waldo spotters).

If you collect stamps/signatures in at least 20 different locations, you will receive the button and coupon, PLUS be entered into a drawing for Waldo books and other great prizes.

All Waldo hunters are invited to a Waldo Grand Celebration and prize drawing on Sunday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. at {pages} a bookstore.  There will be treats and activities (and maybe even a visit from Waldo himself!).

2019 marks the 32nd anniversary of the bespectacled, red-and-white-striped traveler. Author/illustrator Martin Handford began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes. Waldo (known as Wally in Great Britain) is now a cultural icon with over 67 million Waldo books in print worldwide that have been translated into more than thirty languages.

The Waldo event is spearheaded by Waldo publisher Candlewick Press and the American Booksellers Association.

More than 250 independent bookstores including {pages} are hosting Find Waldo scavenger hunts this July while spreading the “shop local” message in their cities and towns.

Earlier this year, {pages} was named Small Business of the Year by Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi for California Assembly District 66.
