It's going to be a beautiful Fourth of July in Manhattan Beach, so skip the driving and enjoy these activities right here in town:
Salute 2 Summer: Baja Sharkeez Manhattan Beach will kick off the long weekend with its annual Salute 2 Summer party from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on July 3. Dress in red, white, and blue and get ready to enjoy the All American Hot Dog Eating Throwdown, the US Navy Captain America Pull Up Challenge, the Hometown Hottie Hula-Hoop Contest, and the Bomb Pop Eating Contest. There will be music by DJ Black Sheep; red, white, and blue Jello shots; and a variety of drink specials.
SUP Squatch Surf Invitational: On Thursday morning, Nikau Kai will host the Second Annual SUP Squatch Surf Invitational on the north side of the Manhattan Beach Pier. The SUP Squatches are gigantic paddleboards that a team of people can ride. They offer a mix between surfing, stand up paddle boarding, canoe surfing and rafting.
Drink Blue: Rock'n Fish will be open for extended hours on the Fourth of July, opening at 11:00 a.m. Head on over to check out their special Independence Day cocktail - the Minute Man (made with muddled fruit, Blueberry Stoli and lemonade.)
Pool Party: Begg Pool will host its annual 4th of July Pool Party from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be water games, a water balloon toss, music, and of course swimming. Bring your own picnic to enjoy on the lawn. The cost is $5 per person.
Backyard BBQ: Shade Hotel is featuring a "backyard BBQ" from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. July 4 through July 7. There will be brunch, large format games, a satellite bar, and kids' activities set up in the open air courtyard.
Beachfront Party: From July 3 through July 7, The Strand House is featuring extended hours with a DJ lineup every day of the weekend. The featured DJ on July 4 is Ben Walker, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Enjoy brunch and try out the Strand House's newest cocktail, the All American.
