It's going to be a beautiful summer weekend in Manhattan Beach. Of course you'll want to spend time at the beach, but when you're ready to hit the town, we've got ideas to keep you entertained all weekend long.

Friday night, 9:00 p.m. - 12:00 p.m.: DJ Nights at Zinc @ Shade: DJ nights are back every Friday and Saturday nights at Shade Hotel. Enjoy hand-crafted bites, cocktails, and good times in the zinc@shade lounge (ages 21+).

Saturday afternoon, 12:15 p.m.- 2:55 p.m.: It's open swim time (see the Begg Pool summer hours) at Manhattan Beach's popular Begg Pool. The cost is $5 per person per visit, but you can pay less if you buy a Fish Ticket (5 visits for $20).

Saturday afternoon, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: The Five Wisdoms Project book signing. Gain some wisdom and see beautiful photos as local photographer Corinne Rushing signs her new book, The Five Wisdoms Project, sharing insights from unique characters from around the South Bay and more. The signing and photo exhibition is at Suite 6 Gallery, next door to Two Guns Espresso on Sepulveda.

Saturday evening, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Library of the Year Celebration. The Manhattan Beach Library is part of the Los Angeles County Library, which was recently named Library of the Year by Gale/Library Journal. The library will host a family-friendly party on Saturday with live music, free refreshments, magic, crafts, and more.

Saturday night, 5:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.: Street Food Cinema presents Grease. Come out and enjoy a movie and food under the stars at the Westdrift Hotel golf course. Presented by Westdrift, the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Kinecta Federal Credit Union, the event's doors open at 5:30, live music begins at 6:30, and the movie begins at 8:30 p.m. Order your tickets ahead of time (reserved, $21; general, $15; children 6-12 reserved, $11; children 6-12 general, $6; children 5 and under, free) as prices go up at the door and admission at the door is not guaranteed. Look for a special appearance by Jamie Donnelly, a.k.a. the Pink Lady "Jan."

Sunday morning, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Fourth of July Baking Workshop at Williams-Sonoma. The Fourth of July is right around the corner, so why not learn to whip up a creative and patriotic dessert? This Williams-Sonoma workshop at Manhattan Village Mall is $30 per person and includes a 9x13" Goldtouch cake pan.

Sunday afternoon, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.: Live music at Metlox. Come enjoy live music while you sit outside and enjoy food or drink from one of the Metlox Plaza eateries.

Sunday evening, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.: 5th Annual Salute to the Troops Picnic and Concert. The Manhattan Beach Department of Parks and Rec, along with the Manhattan Beach City Council and OneWest Bank, presents a concert to honor and thank the South Bay men and women in uniform who have served their country. Bring a picnic, beach chair, and blanket to listen to the Satin Dollz, a pin-up-themed singing and tap-dancing group reminiscent of WWII USO shows. The first 250 veterans and active duty military will receive a free Salute to the Troops Challenge Coin.
