It's getting to be that time of year again: Time for weekend warriors to do their part to raise funds for the kids.

On Saturday, May 11, parents gather to compete in the 13th annual Jeff Goodrich Parents' Soccer Classic. 

You can call it a fun, recreational fundraising event, but don't tell the players. While there's always a great spirit to the day, teams are there to win. 

At stake: Bragging rights for South Bay schools. Parent teams are organized by the school affiliations of their children.

Both the Goodrich soccer tournament and the upcoming Parents' Softball Classic raise funds for the MBX Foundation, which supports local students and athletic programs.

The softball tournament, the 14th annual, will be Sunday, June 9. (See the event page for more, and to get connected to a team if you'd like to play.) 

This year's softball tournament provides the Meadows parent team with an unprecedented shot at a 5th straight title, but it won't be easy.

Come out for some fun this Saturday to watch the Goodrich soccer tourney at Mira Costa's new West Field (along Meadows Ave.):

First games: 8:30am

Playoffs begin: 12:30pm

Tournament Final: 4:00pm

A snack stand is open all day, and a taco truck will be open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
