Vote for 'Socks That Rock'

Apr 16, 2019 09:18PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Want to see some sock designs that rock - and will help a great cause? Come in to homie before April 25 to vote for your favorite from among eleven sock designs by local middle school students.

The sock designs were made for the second annual Legends "Socks That Rock" contest. The winning design (the "People's Choice Award") will be made into socks that will be available for sale at www.TheLegendsBrand.com, with proceeds going toward the local Kids Helping Kids program.

The Kids Helping Kids program is an initiative of the five Manhattan Beach elementary school run clubs, through which kids run for the right to donate socks and shoes to local less fortunate children.

As each child in a Manhattan Beach run club accumulates a marathon distance, they earn the privilege of having a pair of Skechers shoes and Legends socks donated in their name to a child at a sister school in Lawndale and through the Richstone Family Center's after-school program.

Last year, approximately 200 Manhattan Beach kids ran marathon distances, resulting in a donation of 200 pairs of shoes and socks to less fortunate children, according to Vicki Tyler, the Kids Helping Kids program lead.

Sponsors of the Kids Helping Kids program include Skechers, Legends Socks, and Manhattan Beach Rotary.

Following this year's contest, all eleven finalists will enjoy a VIP Party at Legends store with an NFL Charger VIP guest, the founder of Legends, mayors of Manhattan Beach and Lawndale. Each of the eleven students will also receive a pair of socks made with his or her design.

Additionally, anyone who casts a vote at homie will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of the socks with the winning design.
