Calling all artists...and photographers...and Instagram hobbyists: Got a great photo or artwork featuring Manhattan Beach? Now's your chance to have your work displayed in an art gallery, during the city's "Discover Manhattan Beach" exhibit.

The exhibit will run from July 12 through September 29 at the Manhattan Beach Art Center, and will feature artwork and photos of Manhattan Beach. 

To have artwork considered for the exhibit, submit an artwork submission application for your Manhattan Beach-themed paintings, drawings, sculptures, or other media. All ages are welcome to submit artwork.

To have an Instagram photo considered for the exhibit, share it on Instagram between April 1 and June 7 by using the hashtag #manhappenings. Your post must be public, and you must also follow @mbparksandrec and tag them in the photo. 

Instagram photos will be considered in three categories: leisure (including beach-goers, sunset chasers, sports players, art enthusiasts, yogis, dog lovers, etc.); hidden gems (including Bruce's Beach, murals, ceramics studio, skate spot, etc.); or hot spot (including pier lovers, foodies, events, recreation classes, downtown, night life, neighborhoods and public art.  Please specify which category you are entering in your Instagram post.

Entries must be high resolution photos taken within the Manhattan Beach city limits. All ages are welcome to participate in the contest.

The event follows last year's successful "A Day in the Life of Manhattan Beach" community art exhibit, which drew entries from all over the city.
