Looking for a new creative outlet this spring? Manhattan Beach has creative workshops "popping up" all over - guaranteed to teach you a new skill that will take you through spring and beyond.
Kids' Wind Chimes: April 13, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Manhattan Village Mall. Children ages 3-10 are invited to make painted wind chimes with the Kids' Club in Manhattan Village. The event is free but you must register here for your child to attend.
Indigo Dye and Tea Workshop - April 13, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Manhattan Beach Art Center. Michael Aguilar, co-founder of MYM Organics, will walk you through the
process he uses to create designs with organic dyes. While learning
about the organic dyes, you'll sample various loose leaf teas. Finally,
you'll participate in screen printing a custom design by Michael over a
pre-dyed, organic shirt. Make sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting stained. Residents $60, non-residents $66. Ages 18 and up. Register here.
Fibre Art and Planting Workshop - April 14, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Two Guns Espresso and Suite 6 Gallery. Join Robin Lebowe of Modern Knots and Natalie Stanisich of Suite 6 to create a macrame plant hanger. Learn easy macrame knots and gather gardening tips as you learn how to pick your planter, fill it with soil, and maintain a healthy house plant. Workshop includes natural cotton rope, beads, a 6-inch ceramic pot, soil and rocks, a 6-inch plant, a macrame garland or plant skirt mini-kit, and hot coffee or tea from Two Guns. $125. Floral Mother's Day Arrangement - May 11, 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Shade Hotel. Celebrate Mother's Day with a festive floral arrangement class. Learn
tips for keeping your flowers beautiful for longer. You'll create your
own floral arrangement in class to take home. Residents $75, Non-residents $83. Ages 15 and up. Register here.
Silver Clay Mock Channel Set Pendant - June 1, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Manhattan Beach Art Center. Create a pendant with five 6x8mm stones set with no back and nothing
between the stones. The frame around the pendant will be enhanced with a
textured cover and other ornamentation. Basic tools are provided for
the class, but firings will be done offsite. Bring lunch and your
glasses for detailed work, if you need them. Residents $119, non-residents $131. Ages 16 and up. Register here.
