Want to exercise your creativity in the new year? Now's your chance to learn something new, at a series of creative workshops offered by the Manhattan Beach Department of Parks & Rec.

First up is a Chan Luu bracelet workshop on Saturdy, January 26 led by jewelry designer Kristina Catanese. Participants will learn how to work bead and wire to create bracelets in the style popularized by Vietnamese designer Chan Luu. The 18-and-over workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Art Center. The fee is $89 for residents and $98 for nonresidents.

Next, get ready to celebrate Valentine's Day by learning to create your own floral Valentine's Day arrangement. This workshop, to be held on Saturday, February 9, will guide you through the steps of creating a professional-style floral arrangement, and will offer tips on keeping your flowers more vibrant for longer. It will be led by Sarah Gonzales, the founder of Gather Lovely, a South Bay company that hosts floral arranging workshops. The workshop (open to ages 15 and up) will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Marine Avenue Park Rocketship Hall and will cost $75 for residents and $83 for non-residents.

Next up is a beaded hoop earrings workshop to be held on Saturday, February 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Art Center. Participants will create a pair of gold filled beaded hoop earrings, and add colorful semi-precious gemstones for embellishment. This 18-and-over workshop, also taught by Catanese, costs $89 for residents and $98 for non-residents.

Note that all supplies and tools will be provided for each workshop. For this reason, and to get an accurate head count for supplies, pre-registration is required. Register by following the links provided for each respective workshop.
