Looking for something to do this weekend? You can kick off December in style with holiday and community events happening all weekend long in Manhattan Beach.
Sandpiper Holiday Homes Tour: Kick off the weekend touring local homes at the 26th annual Sandpipers Holiday Homes Tour. Feast your eyes on four area homes that have been decked out for the holidays. Hours are Saturday from noon to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to Presale tickets are $33 and tickets at the door are $38.
Gingerbread House Workshop: Join a Gingerbread House Workshop on Saturday at Manhattan Heights Park Community Center with Manhattan Beach Parks and Rec. Choose from 10:00-11:30 a.m., 1:00-2:30 p.m., or 4:00-5:30 p.m. workshops. The cost of the workshop is $55; pre-registration is required.
North Manhattan Beach Holiday Open House and Walk-About: On Saturday night, head over to North Manhattan Beach (between 33rd and 40th Streets on Highland Ave.) for the annual Holiday Open House and Walk-About. From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., enjoy holiday festivities including balloon art, face painting, music, popcorn, cotton candy, and more. Santa will arrive on his sleigh at 34th Street (Miracle on 34th Street) 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and there will be a bounce house at 35th Street.
Fisher Gym Farewell: Come say goodbye to Mira Costa High School's Fisher Gym as the Mira Costa Basketball team plays its final game at the 50-year-old gym on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.. The gym is about to be demolished to make room for a new state-of-the-art, athletic complex, funded by Measure EE.
Menorah Lighting: On Sunday night, come see the lighting of the largest Menorah in the South Bay at the Hermosa Beach Pier with the Jewish Community Center of the South Bay. There will be a live show with the TNT Dunk Squad with high flying trampoline, aerial stunts and spectacular slam dunks. There will be gifts for kids, crafts, and hot donuts and latkes.
