SKECHERS Friendship Walk Raises Record $2 Million+

More than 15,000 walkers and participants showed up for the 10th annual SKECHERS Friendship Walk, which turned out to be the biggest event yet. The walk raised more than $2 million - a new record - for local education foundations and programs for kids with special needs.
This year's walk brings the total amount raised to more than $11 million since the walk started in 2008.
Supported by lead presenter Nickelodeon and media sponsor NBC4 Southern California, the event was led by SKECHERS CEO Michael Greenberg and attended by numerous entertainment
and sport celebrities, including legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, TV
host and CEO of Brooke Burke Body, Brooke Burke and fitness icon Denise
Austin.
Walkers included participants from the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation, as well as education foundations from Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, and El Segundo.
The walk also supports the work of the Friendship Foundation. The Friendship Foundation hosts 36 clubs in schools across the South Bay; as well as social and recreational activities throughout the year, reaching reach more than 1,800 students annually.
