The elections are coming...now's a great time to meet the candidates. On Wednesday, October 10, the League of Women Voters of the Beach Cities and the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce - Manhattan Beach, CA will hold a candidates' forum at Mira Costa High School.

The free forum will be held in the Mira Costa small auditorium (the new theater) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. 

The state assembly candidates include Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi, a Democrat, who currently represents California's 66th Assembly district. Muratsuchi was first elected in to the seat in 2012, and served until 2014, when he was defeated in his bid for reelection by Republican David Hadley. He was elected back to the seat in 2016.

Muratsuchi is up against Republican Frank Scotto, the former mayor of Torrance and the founder of Frank Scotto Towing.

On the senate side, Senator Ben Allen, a Democrat representing California's 26th Senate district, is up for re-election and is defending the seat he has held since 2015.

He faces Independent Baron Bruno, a business leader and real estate agent.
