It was a day of fun in the sun for more than 300 at-risk kids at the P.S. I Love You Foundation's annual Day At The Beach event on Saturday, August 4.

The beach day brings together hundreds of children from surrounding neighborhoods such as Compton, Watts, and Long Beach, and matches them with volunteers who help them enjoy a day of fun and games at the beach.

The P.S. I Love You Foundation and its partners provide all of the necessities for the perfect beach day, including t-shirts, boogie boards, school supplies, food, drinks, toys and games, and access to special activities like face painting, surf lessons, make-up lessons, and relay races.

The P.S. I Love You Foundation aims to develop and implement effective social and emotional learning programs for at-risk youth from elementary to high school to influence positive habits, social and emotional awareness and healthy relationships. It was created by Manhattan Beach's Patricia Scelza-Jones in 1998, following her experience helping a local family in need.
