Kinecta Federal Credit Union's Annual Community Celebration and Chili Cook-Off yielded a spicy crop of tasty chili and resulted in a donation of $1,000 for local charities. 

The July 14 event gave visitors the opportunity to taste and vote on the Kinecta employee-created chili entries, eat a Texas-style BBQ lunch, meet local community organizations, enjoy music and entertainment, and purchase raffle tickets to win prizes.

Also at the event, special recognition was extended to the Manhattan Beach police and fire departments for their service in the community.

At the event, $500 was raised through donations. Kinecta matched that to make a grand total of $1,000 in donations. The money was split among the two local nonprofits being honored at the event: Mychal’s Learning Place and Richstone Family Center.
