The heat is on in Manhattan Beach, but it's easy to stay cool in the pool - Begg Pool, that is, which offers extended free swim hours for the summer.

The Begg Pool summer recreational swim hours are as follows: 

M, T, W, Th - 1:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. (from now through August 16)

Sa, Sun - 1:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. (from now through September 2)

Fridays - Noon to 4:00 p.m. (from now through August 17)

Free swim costs $4 per person per visit, except Fridays, which are $5 per person per visit. You may also buy "Fish Tickets," which cost $20 and are good for $25 worth of activities. Fish Tickets can be purchased at Begg Pool or at the Parks and Recreation Department at Manhattan Beach City Hall.

The Begg Pool summer lap swim hours (for ages 9 and up) from now through August 17 are as follows:

M, T, W, Th, F - 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.

M, W - 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

T, Th - 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 

Sa - 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 

Lap swim costs $4 per person per visit.
