Are your kids curious about sailing? If so, here's a chance to give them an up-close-and-personal look at Opti sailing at King Harbor.
From 4:00 to 6:00, kids and families will get a tour of the club and get a chance to take a sail out in the harbor. From 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. there will be a BBQ dinner with hot dogs and hamburgers for all, and from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. there will be awards from the 2017-2018 season and dessert.
The Optimist, or Opti, is a small, single-handed sailing dinghy intended
for use by children up to the age of 15. It is one of the most popular
sailing dinghies in the world.
The King Harbor Youth Foundation
is a non-profit corporation created to promote youth sailing in Southern
California. Now in its 35th year, the foundation runs programs in
instruction, competitive racing, and community outreach for children
eight years of age and up.
The King Harbor Youth Foundation runs summer sailing camps
for kids at all levels, with beginner Opti classes starting for kids at age eight.
