Mar 07, 2018 07:18PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Ready to work up a sweat? You can get in a workout for free this weekend, at one of nearly 40 local fitness classes organized by the Beach Cities Health District.

BCHD's “Free Fitness Weekends” give the public an opportunity to take free exercise classes in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. This weekend's free class dates are March 9 through 11; there will be another Free Fitness Weekend offered in April.

Free Fitness Weekends were designed by BCHD to introduce people of all income and ability levels to a variety of workout offerings, including yoga, kickboxing, dance, martial arts, strength training, boot camp, stand-up paddle boarding and more. This weekend's offerings consists of a diverse lineup of classes, from bionic circuit to kundalini yoga.

In Manhattan Beach, Adventureplex is offering a free CoreMom Small Group Fitness class on Saturday morning.

“It’s a unique opportunity for residents to get moving and try a new class or fitness studio that they maybe otherwise wouldn’t participate in,” said Tom Bakaly, Beach Cities Health District CEO. “We hope Free Fitness Weekends will help people connect with a local exercise opportunity that they love and will stick with long-term. You certainly can’t beat the price so we really hope the community takes full advantage of this.”

Since its launch in 2015, the Free Fitness Weekends program has had more than 2,700 participants and provided more than 200 free classes to Beach Cities residents.

The program is open to all ages and experience levels. For a complete list of current class offerings and to register, visit bchd.org/freefitness.
