Time to do some shopping for a good cause: The booster club for the MBUSD CHOICE program for neurodiverse young adults will hold holiday pop-up stores featuring products handmade by students.

Items for sale will include candles, coasters, ornaments, and art, with costs ranging between $5 and $20. Gift-wrapping will also be available.

The shop will appear on the following dates and locations:

Wednesday, December 13 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Mira Costa High School (upper deck parking lot);

Thursday, December 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Unified School District offices (east side of the building);

Tuesday, December 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Preschool (in front of the auditorium);

Wednesday, December 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Pennekamp Elementary School (in front of the main office).

The MBUSD CHOICE Transition Program is a Manhattan Beach Unified School District initiative for individuals with special education needs. The program aims to address long-term goals in the areas of community, healthy living, opportunity, independence, career, and emotional social well-being.

The program was established in 2015 by the MBUSD special education department to provide students with in-district options for federally mandated special education transition services. The program provides life skills and vocational training for 18-to-22-year-olds with neurodisorders who are enrolled in the program.

The booster club for the MBUSD Choice program is a sub-organization of the MBX Foundation.
