As Manhattan Beach continues to mourn the loss of Manhattan Beach MIddle School special education teacher Sandy Casey, a benefit concert on Saturday will honor Casey and create a scholarship for a student who would like to follow the same career path.

The concert, presented by the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club and the Mira Costa High School Interact Club, will take place on Saturday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Mira Costa High School New Theater. Tickets are $20 per person.

The concert will feature internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Felix Kellaway. Since finishing his studies in 2014, he has given recitals as a soloist in sixteen countries, taking him to prestigious venues such as the Bolivar Hall in London, Sala de Turina in Sevilla and Wiener Saal in Salzburg.

Kellaway will be joined by the Manhattan Beach MIddle School Madrigal Singers and Joel Ruben.

Casey, along with Manhattan Beach Police Department records technician Rachael Parker, were among those killed in the mass shooting in Las Vegas on October 1.

"Sandy had the ability to make every friend feel like the most valuable. special and important person on the planet," said her friend Carissa Dester, organizer of a GoFundMe page for Casey's funeral expenses. "She advocated for her friends when they didn't see their own strengths and she never let you feel alone in whatever you were going through, whether overjoyed or deep sadness. In our sadness, we have comfort in knowing that we had the opportunity to call her our friend and we will be forever grateful for her."
