Downtown Manhattan Beach to Host Blood Drive

Sep 04, 2017 08:31AM ● By Jeanne Fratello

The American Red Cross delivers blood to an area inaccessible to vehicles in Houston.

In the wake of devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, blood supplies are urgently needed - and Manhattan Beach is once again stepping up to help. The Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professionals Association will be hosting a Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, September 7, from noon to 6:00 p.m.

The Bloodmobile will be parked on Morningside Drive by 13th Street. There will be free parking on 13th street (behind Metlox) and free valet complimentary parking at Shade Hotel for donors during the event.

All are encouraged to sign up with the Red Cross for a time to give blood. Walk-ins are welcome or may call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) for availability.

"The need is real, the American Red Cross is there to deliver - we just need to pump the blood," said Kelly Stroman, executive director of the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professionals Association. "If you've never donated blood, this is the time to start."

Meanwhile, Manhattan Beach's city-wide drive to aid Cleveland, Texas will continue as donations are accepted on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
