Meet Your Neighbors at National Night Out

Jul 29, 2017 07:26PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
It's an old-fashioned tradition made new: National Night Out is an annual tradition that brings together neighbors to meet and gather for potlucks, pizza, or ice cream socials. This year's National Night Out, to be held on Tuesday, August 1 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., will be celebrated across Manhattan Beach with visits from local police representatives.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out aims to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

Millions of people take part in National Night Out across all fifty states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events.
