Sunday morning will be an amazing spectacle, as top-ranked cyclists from around the world will speed around the greenbelt in Manhattan Beach - but visitors and residents are asked to be aware of road closings and detours throughout the downtown area.

The 56th annual Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix will be held at Live Oak Park on Valley Drive from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., featuring races for amateur and professional cyclists alike. The popular Chevron Kids' Zone will return, featuring t-shirts, games, and treats for kids ages 2-12, along with the Kids' Community Race at noon.

This year's race is expected to have an additional element of excitement, as the race is being run counter-clockwise (instead of the usual clockwise). Riders are competing for $21,000 in total prize money for eight USA cycling races.

On Sunday, drivers will not be able to access Valley and Ardmore between 27th Street and 15th Street; traffic will be limited on Valley/Ardmore between Manhattan Beach Boulevard and 15th Street so the area is best to avoid.

Additionally, three downtown parking lots will be closed on Sunday: the Civic Center parking lot at 15th Street, the Valley/Ardmore parking lot at 13th Street, and the downtown Manhattan Beach post office parking lot.
