Jul 05, 2017 12:55PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Summer nights are a great time for relaxation with friends - What better way to relax than to do yoga on the beach? Starting Monday, July 10, the Beach Cities Health District is once again offering its popular Free Fitness Series over the summer, starting with free yoga classes at the Manhattan Beach Pier.

The yoga classes will be held just south of the pier from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 17, 24, and 31. The program offered will be Mindful Yoga, a new hybrid class that incorporates stress-relieving yoga movements and mindfulness meditation techniques.

Exercise modifications and low-impact variations will be offered to accommodate participants of all fitness levels and abilities. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a towel, yoga mat and a jacket.

“The goal of our Free Fitness Series is to bring residents together to get moving in a fun, low-pressure environment,” said Beach Cities Health District CEO Tom Bakaly. “It’s a unique opportunity for people of all ages and ability levels to exercise, move naturally and try something new that they otherwise wouldn’t. The price is right, so we really hope the community will come out.”

Advanced registration is recommended; please visit beachcitiesgym.org/freefitness to register.
