Eat healthfully, eat locally... and inspire yourself to reach both of those goals at the "Taste of the Blue Zones" event in Manhattan Beach on Sunday.

The food festival, which showcases more than 25 local Blue Zones restaurants, will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, at the Manhattan Civic Plaza (1400 Highland Avenue).

The event will feature food and drink samples, live entertainment, a silent auction, and a free kids' zone filled with fun kids crafts and activities. Tickets are $25 for age 12 and up; kids 11 and under are free.

All proceeds from Taste of Blue Zones will benefit the Hermosa Beach Education Foundation, the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation and the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF).

The menu will include ceviche, hummus and pita chips, veggie wraps, potato balls, veggie chili, ahi tostado, fresh pressed juice, quinoa oatmeal, fresh fruit cups, poke on brown rice, sub sandwiches, sauteed beets, Greek dips with fresh veggies, chicken larb with mint leaves, rigatoni with tomato sauce, veggie pizza on multi-grain crust, and more.

Participating restaurants include Bettolino Kitchen, Bollywood Zaika, Captain Kidd's Fish Market, Darren's Restaurant, Hermosa Beach Fish Shop, Four Daughters Kitchen, Fresh Brothers Pizza, Good Stuff, GROW The Produce Shop, Jersey Mike's, Jus' Poke, Lido di Manhattan, Locale 90, Old Venice, Orlando's Pizzeria, the Pita Pit, The Rockefeller, Sacks on the Beach, Second Story, SunLife Organics, Thai Dishes, and Zayna Flaming Grill.

The Blue Zones project is a community-wide approach to creating healthier and more productive citizens. It uses permanent, evidence-based environmental and policy changes to motivate residents to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles. Blue Zones-certified restaurants have pledged to offer a range of healthy choices on their menus.

The event is presented by Beach Cities Health District and the City of Manhattan Beach.
