As Manhattan Beach gears up for a city council election on March 7, the eight candidates will answer questions and present their positions at a candidates' forum on Friday, February 24.
The forum, sponsored by the Manhattan Beach Council of PTAs and The Beach Reporter, will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Mira Costa High School small theater. A meet-and-greet opportunity before the event will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The eight candidates include incumbents Mark Burton and Tony D’Errico; former council members Steve Napolitano and Richard Montgomery; planning commissioners Nancy Hersman and Chris Conoway; strategic communications consultant Joseph Ungoco; and educator Diane Barkelew Wallace. The candidates are competing for three available seats.
Issues expected to be before the candidates include maintaining Manhattan Beach's small-town atmosphere, fiscal responsibility and sustainability, and quality of life issues including transportation and parking.
