Nov 28, 2016 09:59AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Time to do some shopping for a good cause: The MBUSD CHOICE program for neurodiverse young adults will hold holiday pop-up stores featuring handmade products on three dates in December.

The pop-up stores, selling candles, coasters, and art, will appear on the following dates and locations:
  • Thursday, December 1 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Mira Costa High School in the back of the Peck Avenue parking lot by the teachers' lounge.
  • Tuesday, December 20 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Unified School District offices at 325 Peck Ave, in the main parking lot.
The MBUSD CHOICE Transition Program is a Manhattan Beach Unified School District initiative for individuals with special education needs. The program aims to address long term goals in the areas of Community, Healthy Living, Opportunity, Independence, Career, and Emotional Social Well-being.

The program was established in 2015 by the MBUSD special education department to provide students with in-district options for federally mandated special education transition services. The program provides life skills and vocational training for 18-22 year olds with neurodisorders who are enrolled in the program.
