The 8th annual SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk, held on Sunday, October 23, surpassed its goal to raise a record $1.6 million to support public education and special needs children.

More than 12,000 people joined in the walk, including celebrities Brooke Burke-Charvet, Sugar Ray Leonard, Camila Alves, Ian Ziering, Denise Austin, and Tommy Lasorda. Special performances included Jordyn Jones, New District, Aidan Prince, and Asia Monet Ray entertaining the crowd at the Manhattan Beach Pier.

The walk is produced by SKECHERS USA and co-produced by The Friendship Circle, a local nonprofit organization that helps children with special needs through social and recreational activities at home, school, and in the community.

The walk, billed as the biggest fundraising event in California, was created in 2010 by the Greenberg family, the founding family of SKECHERS. Last year's walk raised a record $1.4 million.

Next year's walk is scheduled for October 29, 2017.
