Manhattan Beach Fire Foundation To Hold Launch Event

Sep 10, 2016 09:26AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the firefighters and paramedics of the Manhattan Beach Fire Department are prepared to protect the lives, safety, and environment of the city. To support the department, a new nonprofit organization known as the Manhattan Beach Fire Foundation (MBFF) is providing equipment, training, and public outreach programs to supplement city resources.

Supporters of the foundation have planned a special launch event on Thursday, September 15, at 5:30 p.m. at Shade Hotel. The event will serve to introduce the foundation to the community, and invite new sponsors to join in support.

Founded in 2015 and modeled after the successful City of Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, MBFF is the primary source for private financial support to the Manhattan Beach Fire Department. MBFF was initiated and adopted by community members and business leaders to uphold a campaign promise by Manhattan Beach Councilman Mark Burton to provide additional equipment, training, or other items that may not be within the city’s budget.

By working closely with Manhattan Beach Fire Chief Bob Espinosa and the Manhattan Beach Firefighters’ Association, MBFF’s goal is to enhance and sustain the high level of  service provided by the Manhattan Beach Fire Department. While the MBFF is not intended to supplement shortfalls in the budget, donations are being accepted to provide the absolute best additional support to Manhattan Beach's firefighters.

“It is a true honor to support the heroes of the MBFD and all they do for our community,” said Skechers USA President Michael Greenberg, one of the founding sponsors of the organization.

The community is invited to attend the free event to learn more about the organization and hear speakers from the Manhattan Beach Fire Department and MBFF.

Sponsors are invited to join at four levels that include Title Sponsor ($10,000), Gold Sponsor ($5,000), Silver Sponsor ($2,500), or Bronze Sponsor ($1,000). For more information on sponsorship benefits, please contact [email protected].

The Manhattan Beach Fire Department consists of two fire stations, thirty career firefighters and twenty-four volunteer personnel who are trained to provide the highest level of fire, medical and rescue assistance.
