Santa To Appear At Summer Concert Series

Aug 31, 2016 11:42AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Is it Christmas... in September?!? Not exactly, although Santa will be making an appearance. In response to several requests, the Manhattan Beach Kiwanis Club will be bringing its popular Santa float to the September 4 concert at Polliwog Park so that families can take holiday photos early.

"Last year, we toured fourteen local neighborhoods and during the Santa runs, a number of residents lamented the fact that they would not be able to use their Santa pictures in their annual family holiday cards because they did not have pictures early enough," said Steven Carvel, president-elect of the Manhattan Beach Kiwanis Club. "This should enable families to take their holiday photo early enough to use it for holiday cards."

Santa and his float will appear before and during the concert to enable families to get their pictures.  Those wishing to take a picture with Santa are requested to bring their own camera.

The float will be positioned next to the children’s playground, in direct line of sight from the concert venue. Santa and the float will be on site from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The musical event, featuring the Beatles tribute band Britain’s Finest, will run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Carvel thanked the city, the Parks and Recreation Department, and "the entire army of Santa's elves and helpers" for making the collaborative event possible.
