The Arthur J to Host LAFW 'Power Lunch'

Aug 24, 2016 06:27AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
The ultimate power lunch is coming to Manhattan Beach this Friday, when two acclaimed chefs will combine forces for one memorable five-course meal at The Arthur J.

Local celebrity chef David LeFevre (of MB Post, Fishing With Dynamite, and The Arthur J) is collaborating with award-winning chef Alex Seidel for the Los Angeles Food and Wine Festival event, which will begin at noon on Friday, August 26. (LeFevre had invited Seidel for a "date with 'Bertha,' The Arthur J's wood-fired grill).

Denver-based Chef Seidel is the owner of the acclaimed Fruition Restaurant, Mercantile Dining & Provision, and Fruition Farms Dairy & Creamery. He was a James Beard Award Finalist for 2016 Best Chef Southwest and was named Food & Wine Magazine's Best New Chef 2010. Seidel is renowned not only for his market-driven cuisine, but for his own farm where he raises heritage pigs, makes four types of sheep's milk cheeses and grows vegetables for his restaurants.

The five-course meal will feature five appetizers: Crispy Potato Cakes with Smoked Sturgeon, Pickled Mustard Seed & Dill; Thai Spiced Hamachi Tar Tar with Puffed Sesame Rice Chips & Kaffir Lime Leaf; Rocky Ford Melon Gazpacho, Fruition Farms Sheepskyr (an Icelandic cultured dairy product) and Savory Grains; and Lamb Pancetta BLT, Heirloom Tomato, Fruition Farms Ricotta, and Toasted Brioche.

The meal will continue with Seidel's Wood Fired Octopus, Charred Lemon & Fennel Salad, Pluot Mostarda, Farro, and Piccolo Vinaigrette; LeFevre's Rendered Duck Breast with Brown Butter Hazelnuts, Black Garlic and Red Wine Essence; and Seidel's Boneless Pork Ribeye, Palisade Peaches, Olathe Corn, and Soft Polenta.

The final course will be LeFevre's Strawberry Pavlova, Harry's Berry's, Lemon Curd and Strawberry Sorbet.

Tickets for the event cost $125 and are available here.
