Aug 13, 2016 09:49AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
How much fun can your family have swimming, running, and getting muddy? You can put yourself the test on Sunday morning at Kids Extreme, an annual kids and family race starting at 9:00 a.m. at Begg Pool.

The course begins with a swim (25 yards for ages 5 to 8 and those in the Family Division; 50 yards for ages 9 to 10; 100 yards for all other ages). The swim is followed by a 1K run and then a 200-yard obstacle course.

The obstacle course - the highlight of the race - involves mud, tires, hay, water, walls, and much more to provide a fun physical challenge for all ages.

The age groups are 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, and then a Family Division, with one parent and one child between the ages of 4 and 6. Every athlete will receive a participant medal.

Event registration costs $38 per participant for Manhattan Beach residents ($42/participant for nonresidents), or $50 for on-site registration until 8:30 a.m.. T-shirts are available for $10.

The popular race, produced by the Manhattan Beach Department of Parks and Recreation, is now in its 8th year.
