The theater company Shakespeare By The Sea, along with the City of Manhattan Beach, will present two Shakespeare plays this weekend at Polliwog Park.

Productions will include Othello at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12 and Cymbeline at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13.

The plays are produced by Shakespeare by the Sea, a nonprofit organization that was launched in 1998 to enrich the lives of individuals, youth and their families in diverse communities through live Shakespeare performances. Since its inception, the organization has become an integral part of summer theater life in South Bay communities.

The performances, to be held in the Polliwog Park amphitheater, are open seating and free to the public. Audience members are encouraged to bring a picnic, low back beach chairs and blankets. There are no dogs, barbecues or wheeled vehicles allowed  in the performance area.

Patrons are encouraged to bring $5 to participate in a raffle for gift cards and other prizes, with proceeds benefiting Shakespeare By The Sea.

The cost to produce the Manhattan Beach performances is $14,420. As of last month, the company had raised $9,182 for these performances. Contributions of all kinds are encouraged.
