A cold beer at the beach? For some, it's just about the perfect definition of summer. All this week, you can celebrate the season and cool off in style at Simmzy's, as the local eatery participates in L.A. Beer Week.

L.A. Beer Week, produced by the Los Angeles County Brewers' Guild, aims to highlight craft beers brewed in Los Angeles County.

Simmzy's currently has 24 craft beers on tap, including beers from local breweries El Segundo Brewing Company (El Segundo), King Harbor Brewing Company (Redondo Beach), Smog City (Torrance), Strand Company Brewing (Torrance), and Three Weavers Brewing Company (Inglewood).

The craft beer scene has experienced rapid growth in the last few years, especially in the South Bay. In fact, last year Los Angeles Magazine named the South Bay "America's Newest Craft Beer Capital."

Beer lovers claim that craft beer (beer that is brewed by local microbreweries) tastes better because it doesn't have to travel as far and is generally produced by local or responsibly sourced ingredients. Additionally, supporting local breweries keeps money in the community.

To stay up-to-date on the latest beers on tap at Simmzy's, follow along using the Tap Hunter app.

Hungry for more Simmzy's? The Simms Restaurant Group is gearing up to debut its newest concept, Craft Shack fueled by Simmzy’s, at The Point in El Segundo this summer. The eatery will feature an "ultra-laidback menu of beach grub" and local craft brews.
