Don't let the heat get you down this summer: Enjoy a refreshing swim at Begg Pool in Manhattan Beach.

For Summer 2016, the city pool is open for "free swim" (a.k.a. Recreational Swim) on Saturdays through Thursdays from 1:00 to 2:50 p.m, for $3 per person. On Fridays, the free swim times extend from noon to 4:00 p.m., for $5 per person. (Note that there is a mandatory "potty break" from 1:55 to 2:00 p.m.)

Lap swimming is available Monday through Friday from 7:15 to 8:00 a.m.; from Monday through Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Lap swimming is $4 per person.

Water aerobics - a drop-in class that does not require registration - takes place Monday through Thursday from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m., and Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. The class costs $4 per person.

The Begg Pool Masters Team practices from 6:15 to 7:15 a.m., Monday through Friday. The cost is $45 per month, with registration required through the city.

Group and individual swim lessons, as well as the Junior Guard program, are also available by registering through the city.

All summer hours are in effect through August 28.
