As a thank you to the community that helped them fund a trip to New York City, the Mira Costa High School Music Department will hold a "Manhattan to Manhattan" send-off concert on Tuesday, May 24.

The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mira Costa auditorium. The wind ensemble and symphony band will perform from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Following a short intermission, the philharmonic chamber orchestras and the symphony orchestra will perform from 8:15 p.m. - 9:15 p.m. The musical groups are under the direction of Joel Carlson and Peter Park.

Tickets for Monday's concert are $10; senior citizens and students with I.D. are free.

The  GRAMMY-award-winning bands and orchestra program will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 29. The young musicians will be part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York, 2016 Concert Series. This prestigious series features numerous world and US premieres, world-class musicians at New York's most prestigious venues, and musicians and singers from across America and the globe.

At Carnegie Hall, students will be performing a solo concert to an audience of over 1500 patrons. The five concert ensembles that are performing include over 260 musicians.

The Costa2Carnegie fundraising effort, which included community events, such as an e-waste drive, concerts, and a bake sale,  raised over $48,000 in eight months.
