The girls on Team Lightning are as fast as, well, lightning - and they're preparing to take on their counterparts across the West Coast this weekend at the AYSO 2016 Western States Championships.

The 12-and-under girls' soccer team is part of AYSO Region 18, with players from Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach.

Team Lightning played strong throughout the fall, taking second place in the Region 18 AYSO championships in the fall. They went on to win the Beach Cities AYSO Area 1-D league tournament in January, and then clinched the championship title at the 2015-2016 AYSO Section One League Playoffs for U12 girls on February 28 in Riverside.

This weekend, they head to Bullhead, AZ, for the 2016 Western States Championships, where they will take on the top GU12 teams in the region.

The team is led by Head Coach Alan Franz, along with Assistant Coach Michael Gerhardt.

The team includes Anna Iantuono, Chaney Fix, Jamison Wallis, Lea Pepemehmetoglu, Lisa Boos, Lucca Franz, Maria Hoffman, Mila Matich, Molly Grimes, Quincy Wedbush, Riley Atwater, Skyler Gerhardt, Tillie Lamkin, and Uma Mehta.
