The "Free Fitness Weekends" program will launch on Friday, February 19, with free "beach bootcamp" workouts on the Manhattan Beach Pier at 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. The hour-long workouts will be led by local fitness leader Joe Charles, better known as "GI Joe."
GI Joe Beach Bootcamp is designed to help students lose weight, tone bodies, build endurance and connect with others interested in their health. Preregistration is not required and all fitness levels are welcome. Participants are asked to bring a towel and a bottle of water.
The Free Fitness Weekends are scheduled for February 19-21, March 18-20, and April 15-17. Studios all around the beach cities will offer free classes throughout the day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of those weekends. Other participating Manhattan Beach fitness studios include Fit On Studios, Beastie Gym, CoeDynamics Pilates Studio, White House Pilates, and Gurus Gate Yoga.
Visit the Free Fitness Weekends website for the complete schedule.
Beach Cities Free Fitness Weekends is a partnership between Beach Cities Health District’s Center for Health & Fitness and local fitness studios and gyms to provide more opportunities for Beach Cities residents to be healthy and have fun being physically active.
